Instagram, One of the most popular social media network is trying something new. The company is now trying Artificial Intelligence to stop bullying acts on its platform.
Instagram faced various blames on how people are misusing the platform to promote hate. This made it obvious for the company to use technical ways to solve out the problems.
While social media provides a good way to connect with people, it also has some adverse effects. People use these platforms to bully others in multiple ways. By using Artificial Intelligence algorithms Instagram will handle most of these cases before they even occur.

The Instagram application in its further updates will have these features. The application will ask the user “Are you sure you want to post this?” before anyone tries to post a hurtful content. This will let the Bully think again before posting any hate content or general post.
Online bullying is a serious offense and thus needs to be curbed. The tool or algorithm will use Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing to find certain similarities in text phrases that were found to be hurtful.
Artificial Intelligence in Scientific discoveries is already proving itself powerful. Applying all these factors might not stop everyone bullying out there but the company has seen many positive outcomes in their research reports.
Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri said in their latest post that:
It’s our responsibility to create a safe environment on Instagram. This has been an important priority for us for some time, and we are continuing to invest in better understanding and tackling this problem. I look forward to sharing more updates soon.
Instagram is also looking at more ways to deal with how people interact online. It is obvious that if someone blocks the bully on these media channels then it might create more problems in real life.
So the company is introducing a feature named Restrict which will let the user to Restrict any user.
Once you Restrict someone on Instagram there comments on your Instagram posts will only be visible to them.
No other person including you will see the hateful comments, if any. You activity status and your read status will also be hidden from restricted profiles. We hope that these features will help the online community in becoming much better place than ever.
